The Laboratory of Skin Biology and Experimental Dermatology is a well equipped laboratory for basic and biomedical scientists working on cell biology of skin and skin diseases. We are part of the Nijmegen Science School "Institute for Cellular Signalling" (ICS), a graduate school of the University. Participating research groups are hosted by the Faculty of Natural Sciences and the University Medical Center (UMC; including the Faculty of Medical Sciences and the University Hospital Nijmegen St. Radboud). We are a member of the Nijmegen Center for Molecular Life Sciences (NCMLS). The NCMLS offers a challenging and forward looking portfolio of research and higher degree opportunities for (Ph.D.) students and post-docs.
The University of Nijmegen (KUN) is the only university in the southern and eastern part of the Netherlands that offers a full range of academic educational programmes. The university is internationally recognised for research in Medical Sciences, Computer Sciences, Chemical and Physical Sciences and Cognitive and Linguistic Behavioural Studies. There are 14000 students at the University.

Nijmegen is the oldest city in the Netherlands, originally founded by the Romans. The historic city provides a picturesque backdrop along a branch of the Rhine, named the Waal. A nice view is provided from the the castle 'Valkhof' which makes up the highest point in the city.
